The virtual training that covers patroller protocols and route planning will be on the Wednesday evening prior, and it will be recorded. You can attend one or both–the virtual planning session or the field day, but ideally both! The online portion will cover everything to expect when leading a patrol, including route planning, required documents, advertising your patrol to membership on the website/email, and weather/avalanche forecasts. During the field event, we will practice going in and out of service on the radio, assessing snow conditions, observing and leading group members, and even some fun skiing/riding.
The field event location is TBD, but will most likely be held at Echo Summit and include a tour of Becker Ridge and a ski down Becker Peak followed by a short climb to re-gain the ridge and ski out.
This event is open to patrollers and patroller candidates.
