Greetings, EBSP!
You should have received a calendar invitation to Saturday’s . Please RSVP (in email calendar invitation) accordingly so that we know how much coffee to bring!
We will meet at the Pacific Ranger Station for an efficient general meeting (paperwork, reminders for the season). Then, we will launch immediately into practice! Radios, hypothermia review, gear questions/demo, and more. We’ll have approximately 45 minutes to break for lunch and refresh our first aid kits with patrol supplies. Then, we will carpool up to the Crystal Basin for some trail work and in-the-field practice (navigation, radios, medical scenario, and more). Exact location in the Crystal Basin to follow; the Forest Service is doing some trail work this week and we do not want to duplicate that work.
Please bring:
- Your backcountry pack with the winter 10+ essentials
- first aid kit for refreshing
- If different, bring a hiking pack for trail work
- Patrollers, bring your radios!!!
- Lunch and snacks for trail work
- Water bottle (we can fill at the ranger district)
- Warm layers for trail work
- Sturdy shoes for trail work
- Navigation (digital map with offline maps or physical map and compass of Crystal Range)
- Feel free to bring skis/board/skins/snowshoes if you have any questions about your gear that you need to troubleshoot
As a reminder, to participate in any EBSP events, you will need to sign off on the Forest Service and EBSP liability documents. We will have these at the meeting and trail work for you to sign.
