Our bespoke training activities include learning / training for Elected Members and Members of Management Boards, Leadership Teams and Middle Managers

It aims to give practicing or potential Managers the foundation and underpinning knowledge for the formal development needed in this role. It is suitable for practising or aspiring First line Managers or experienced First Line Managers with no formal training in Managing Diversity. 

Upon successful completion of course assessments, the aims of this programme are to receive an internationally recognised qualification from ILM - The Institute of Leadership & Management – the largest leadership and management awarding body in Europe.

Participants will also learn to maximise the efficiency and productivity of the organisation by promoting and supporting equality and diversity within the organisation and its stakeholders.

The Course Design will have all or some of the following contents:

Promoting Diversity and Equality
  • Exploring the principles of Diversity
  • Recognising the difference between Equality of Opportunity and Equality of Outcome
  • Identifying the actions that support equality and value diversity
  • How to support equality and value diversity with your staff
  • Strategies for promoting equality and valuing diversity
  • The dimensions for developing culture competence in equality and diversity

Introduction to Leadership styles for Promoting Diversity

  • Differences between leadership and management
  • Range of at least three different leadership models
  • Leadership behaviours and the sources of power
  • Identification, development and appropriate choice of personal leadership styles and behaviours
  • The role of trust and respect
  • Identifying and taking action when others’ or own behaviour undermines equality and diversity 

Managing Performance of a Diverse Workforce

  • The differing objectives of stakeholders in the organisation – customers, employees, partners, owners, the community
  • First line manager’s responsibility for managing team and individual performance and meeting objectives
  • Balancing equality issues with the rights of others in the work place, enabling others to promote equality and diversity and develop a non discriminatory culture
  • The relevance of SMART objectives and how to set them
  • How to set performance standards
  • How to measure performance against agreed standards
  • Techniques for performance monitoring and evaluation
  • How to interpret variances in performance and take appropriate action
  • Range of performance improvement techniques available to the manager
